The most populated city and capital of the state of Colorado is Denver. It is nicknamed the “Mile High City” due in large part to the elevation being exactly one mile above sea level. The estimated population of the city center is roughly around 610,345 residents, and the estimated population of the metropolitan area is estimated at around 2.5 million people, ranking as the 21st most populous city in the United States. He was awarded one of the top five “big-city” mayors in the United States by Time Magazine in 2005 and is known for his relatively “innovative” approach to being mayor.
