The city of Folsom is an area in northern California near the capital city of Sacramento. It is famous for the large prison located within the city limits. The estimated population of the city is 72,590 and is part of the greater Sacramento metropolitan area.
The area was founded in 1855 to honor Joseph Libbey, who helped lay out the city and help get railway connections to the rest of the country. The area has a great deal of employment opportunities in a variety of different industries. The area has a great historic district and downtown area that also is a main point of tourism and attraction for visitors.
