The state of Virginia is located on the eastern coast of the United States of America. The state has a deep history that dates back to the founding of the United States. The state occupies roughly 42,000 square miles of land mass, and it ranks 35th in terms of land. The state is divided into several counties and within those counties are independent cities, making the area one of the more politically diverse areas in the nation. The area also has a deep history of defense and military stations, alongside growing sectors of technology, medicine, and much more. The large companies in the state include, Freddie Mac, General Dynamics, Norfolk Southern, SLM Corp, NVR, Gannett, Capital One Financial, US Airways Group, and many more.
Despite a great diverse economy with many employment options for job seekers to explore, the area has an unemployment rate slightly higher than the national average at 7.6%. While the area hasn't been hit nearly as hard as other states on the eastern coast of the United States, it still has seen some hardships.
