One of the premiere resort towns in the province of British Columbia Canada is none other than Whistler. Whistler is located in the southern portion of the Pacific Ranges of the Coast Mountains and is a major ski and snowboarding community. It has an estimated population of around 9,965 and a larger rotating residency of people that come from far and wide to the slopes. It has been noted that the area receives roughly 2 million visitors annually, specifically for snow recreation purposes. The main airport in the area is Vancouver International Airport, but is not in the vicinity. The international airport is located 140 kilometers south of the city.
Whistler sustains a resort community vibe, and is continually growing in interest to the ski and snowboarding communities. With relatively low crime, a small permanent population, and a great deal of options to explore, the area is quite nice for those looking to escape the larger metropolitan cities.
